Take a TOUR AROUND THE KINLOSS ABBEY with one of the Trustees, including the usually locked ABBOT’S HOUSE. Find out about the history of the building from its foundation in 1150 by King David 1 and Cistercian Monks, through its rise to power and influence under brilliant Abbot Robert Reid, until its decline after the Scottish Reformation in 1560 will be simply explained and demonstrated. You’ll be introduced to the way of life of the monks, as well as interesting snippets including Mary Queen of Scots visit, Oliver Cromwell’s destruction of the Abbey to build a fortress in Inverness and the War Graves will all be mentioned.

This is a unique opportunity specifically for MBPJ participants to explore this wonderful piece of Moray and indeed Scottish history. We are really lucky to announce there is no charge for this guided tour.
